Internship Program
The internship program at Edmond Family Counseling offers aspiring mental health professionals a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in a supportive and dynamic environment. Designed for graduate students seeking to fulfill their clinical hour requirements toward full licensure in the LPC and LMFT tracks. The program provides interns with hands-on training in various aspects of clinical practice.
You will have the opportunity to see children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families depending on your clinical interest. Our services are offered to anyone age 7 or older. Individual, Family, and Group Therapy sessions address issues such as anxiety, depression, school issues, relationship problems, trauma, life changes, behavioral problems, parenting, and suicidality. Edmond Family Counseling does NOT provide substance abuse counseling.
Supervision
- We offer 1 hour of supervision per week, as well as an open-door environment with someone available 24-7 should you need support helping your clients.
- Under the supervision of a licensed professional, interns can engage in intake sessions, conduct assessments, and participate in individual and group therapy, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings.
- In addition to direct client work, interns receive regular supervision and feedback, attend professional development workshops, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, enhancing their understanding of diverse therapeutic approaches.
Prerequisites
- An O.S.B.I. criminal history information request (done here at EFC)
- A clean drug test (done here at EFC)
- Completed Application (provided by EFC)
- Completion of a Bachelors degree OR must be enrolled in a Graduate/Masters program

Intern Schedule Requirements
- Staff Meetings:
- Thursdays from 12pm-1pm.
- Staff meetings are mandatory to ensure you stay up to date on office management and policy changes.
- Evening Availability:
- Most client appointments occur after school. It is recommended you plan for at least two or three days a week to be available for client sessions from 3pm-8pm.
